Commercial Video Production: Brief Overlook

Commercial Video Production

Recently I was having lunch with a close friend of mine and she was asking me questions about what I do. Particularly, she was asking questions about how I handle implementing my art while working with brands such as I Heart Radio and RMS Beauty and what the process for Commercial Video Production was.

This second question is a bit more extensive. Sometimes, putting into words what is essentially a feeling is difficult. I could tell her all about the pre-production process.

How I envision my edits long before the events or shoots. Or, drawing a storyboard for my shots, so I am certain I have a comprehensive story being told throughout the brand video. I will even daydream about certain angles, transitions, FPS, lighting, and the sounds being captured.

Or maybe the post production where I will stare at a frame for thirty minutes straight deciding if the transition leading to the next frame needs to be .10 seconds faster. But, that might sound like I am a crazy person who is over meticulous.

I mean, I AM, but there is no sense in saying that.

It’s a dream to create videos for my clients. So, let’s break down how I create these live action video commercials for my clients.

Pre-production

First, as a Commercial Video Production Company, I always find it important to lead with my morals. Products or services that don’t resonate with me, I don’t do. I don’t have anything against the brand. However, if someone doesn’t connect with the project, it won’t be its best.

With this, I understand the videos I am making are for video marketing purposes and will likely be shared to the company’s target audience via social media. Because of this, I always think about ways in which I can resonate with your audience.

You’ve come to me to create this video content, but I take my work personally. I want you to succeed. Because of this, I do not have a single template for my video ads, corporate videos or any of the sort. Each brand has their own vision and I have my own.

Through pre-production meetings, we meet and discuss our visions. Whether you are looking for an Explainer Video, a video ad, Brand Story or Branded Video Production and then I will have a full vision of the day.

From here, I will create a shot list based on my our shared vision and we prepare for the day.

Production

The day is here! The stars are aligned and we have made it to the day. This is where I take over depending on the event or shoot. (Obviously, I’m not going to direct Sabrina Carpenter while she’s singing on stage.)

Knowing this though, I try to keep an easy feeling while we work for your day. A commercial video production agency and those that represent it on the day are able to handle the many different challenges that come on the day of your shoot. Because of my in depth experience and ability to adapt, I am able to keep the day moving smoothly, while we execute your vision.

Then the day is finished and everyone is full of smiles. We part ways and then I head into my post-production.

Post-Production

Post-Production is where I take hours of footage and edit it down to a roughly a 1 to 3 minute long video. This video will be edited to ecapsulate your brand. This vision has a 6 to 12 week turn around process as I make certain it speaks to your target audience.

I will keep you updated on the timeline during Post-Production. This way, you can feel confident in the product as it develops. Then finally, it is the day I send it over.

Depending on your schedule, I like to have a little watch party with you over Zoom, as you watch your finished Video for the first time. Seeing your vision come to life.

As you can imagine, that was a lot to say over coffee to a friend. It’s all a bit in depth. And, even this is a brief overlook of the process.

So needless to say, our conversation went a different direction shortly after I lost her as I tried to explain the difference of the lenses I rotate through on any given day of shooting. So, we finished our coffees and spoke about our lives.

Which is always nice.

Until Next Time,

Mary Clare
